Your Account

Sign-in. TangleKite uses Auth0 to sign you in. Auth0 holds your email address and password. TangleKite never sees your password. Your email address is used to sign you in and to contact you about your account, for example when you are approved for the beta.

Your Twitch connection. When you connect Twitch, TangleKite stores your Twitch user ID, channel name, display name, a link to your profile picture, and the access keys Twitch issues. The keys are stored encrypted. They give TangleKite permission to read the chat in your channel, and nothing else. TangleKite does not post in your chat.

Account records. TangleKite keeps when your account was created and last used, your beta waiting list status, your overlay URL and your overlay settings.

Chat in Your Channel

While your overlay is running, TangleKite receives the chat in your channel from Twitch: each chatter's name, their message, any emotes, and moderation actions such as deleted messages and timeouts. This is used only to group messages and show them on your overlay. When a moderator removes a message, it is removed from the overlay too.

To group messages, TangleKite sends the text of chat messages to OpenAI and TypeSafe. Chatters' names are not sent.

Under the terms TangleKite uses, the AI services it sends chat to do not use it to train their models. OpenAI may keep the text for up to 30 days to check for abuse, or longer if the law requires it, and then deletes it. TypeSafe does not publish a time limit. It keeps the text for as long as it considers reasonably necessary to provide its service.

Chat shown on your overlay is held in memory while it is on screen. It is not saved.

Chat is not aggregated for analysis or reporting.

In limited cases, chat from public Twitch channels is recorded to test TangleKite. A recording holds the time and text of each message. In place of the chatter's name it holds a short code made from their Twitch user ID, and it does not hold the channel name. Recordings are deleted within 24 hours.

Anyone with your overlay URL can open your overlay. Keep it private, and make a new one from your dashboard if it is shared by mistake.

Visiting the Site

Cookies. TangleKite only uses the cookies it needs to sign you in, keep forms secure and show your overlay. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and no tracking across other sites. Auth0 sets its own cookies when you sign in.

Logs. TangleKite logs requests to keep the service running and to fix problems: the page asked for, the time and your browser type. Logs can also include your account ID and channel name. TangleKite does not record your IP address. Logs are deleted after 30 days.

Who Your Information Is Shared With

TangleKite does not sell your information or use it for advertising. It is shared only with the services TangleKite runs on:

• Auth0 (Okta): sign-in.
• Twitch: your Twitch connection and your channel's chat. Emote images on your overlay load from Twitch.
• BetterTTV, FrankerFaceZ and 7TV: your overlay loads your channel's emote lists and emote images straight from them, so they see your Twitch channel ID and the IP address of the computer showing the overlay. You can turn each one off in the overlay panel.
• Microsoft Azure: hosting, storage and logs, in the United States.
• OpenAI: the text of chat messages, to group them.
• TypeSafe: the text of chat messages, to help group them.

TangleKite may also share information when the law requires it.

How Long It Is Kept

• Account information: until you delete your account.
• Logs: 30 days, then deleted automatically.
• Overlay chat: not saved.
• Test recordings: deleted within 24 hours.
• Feedback you leave when deleting your account: kept until TangleKite deletes it.

Auth0, Twitch, OpenAI, TypeSafe, BetterTTV, FrankerFaceZ and 7TV keep information under their own privacy policies.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. This stops your overlay, cancels TangleKite's access to your Twitch account, and deletes your TangleKite data and your Auth0 sign-in. Logs and test recordings are not removed at once; they are deleted on the schedule above.

When you delete your account you can tell us why. This is optional. TangleKite saves only the text you type. It is not saved with your account ID, email address or Twitch name, and it is kept after your account is deleted. Please don't include personal details in it.

You can also remove TangleKite's access at any time in your Twitch settings, under Connections.

Your Choices

You can ask for a copy of your information, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by emailing support@tanglekite.com.

TangleKite is not meant for anyone under 13.
